Over the past few weeks I’ve noticed I’ve been charged for parking fines that don’t actually exist. When I cross-check them with the RTA, there is no record of the fines at all. The communication is honestly some of the worst I’ve experienced from any company and I would never recommend it ever

Overcharged

I signed a one year lease. Every month they have debited my card automatically, but have failed to provide any kind of invoice despite my continued complaints. Last month I discovered why, they overcharged me by 124aed. Its possible this has happened every month. Nobody seems interested in rectifying the issue.

Totally unacceptable service provider

I could not speak more negatively of the service received by Thrifty and how totally unacceptable the response was by management. This company is without doubt, the WORST car rental company in Dubai and I could not recommend looking elsewhere.

Being new to Dubai, we needed a car and rented from Thrifty expecting a minimum service level. We hired a Hyundai Creta and paid 2,500 AED per month, which in hindsight, is a rip off when you shop around.

Upon hiring the vehicle, Thrifty took our email address and details as you would any normal service. After a few days, I had not received the service agreement so contacted them via WhatsApp. They did not respond. I contacted them repeatedly over following days and eventually I received my agreement (10 days of rental). At this point my wife received a call today we had received parking fines. I explained that nobody had let us know from the outside and questioned why we had not been informed before this to make corrections.

We found out that the service agent took the wrong details down and incorrectly took our email address so we did not recieve any messages about fines meaning we had run up a fine in excess of 2,500AED. This was quite clearly a Thrifty error and a very costly one. We then raised this with the management team and waited in excess of 4 weeks for a response.

While this was happening, we emailed to request that no further charges are taken on our cards until it had been resolved. This was completely ignored and a large sum was taken to cover the fines incurred even though Thrifty were clearly at fault.

Eventually, the management team came back with a totally obnoxious response explaining it was our fault and thrifty would not take any responsibility even though we have evidence via voice notes received stating the completely opposite and accepting fault.

At this point, we paid our final statement balance and just wanted to leave. As a follow up, thrifty emailed and offer 100AED voucher to rejoin which is nothing short of disgusting and a totally distasteful offer in light of how shambolic the service was.

My advice, DO NOT go with thrifty, there are so many, much better providers who value you as a customer. I now have a much higher spec vehicle which costs 300AED a month less.

BAD EXPERIENCE

Please don’t try to rent a car from them. The security deposit will be mentioned after you pay for the rental period. Then, once the car arrives, the driver will ask you to pay 1,500 CC or 2,000 DC. While it’s normal to give deposits, returning it after 4 weeks is too long. Scam!

Its very disappointing and to be very honest i will never ever use your services also will never ever recommend thrifty to anyone.

AED 2000 for minor damage is seriously very expensive and not at all justifiable.

Seriously very disappointed with the way thrifty is working which is only focusing on making money and not at all considering the consumer’s situation.

Completely Cheated by them…

Hired car on line as its cheaper only to find if u do you can not change the booking at all. I was left with a car for 4 days which I didn’t need, they took full payment as I wS to be charged in full. I was told to extend I needed to put a new application form in, when I told them I didn’t need it anymore they said, because it’s an extension I can’t cancel. Even though the 4day extension had not started… And they didn’t get back to me until the following day so I went into the first day…. How convenient for them… Feel cheated.

Delay in delivery, collection and release of hold on credit card

Poor service all round. Borders on dishonest.

1. Car delivered late to hotel. Only delivered after I followed up with them.

2. car collected many hours late from hotel. Only collected after I followed up with them.

3. a day after returning car, they called me to arrange to collect the car! Idiotic.

4. 30 days after returning car, they have still not released hold on my credit card despite me following up after 21 days. Did this in a previous hire with them.

Basically a Fraud

The most terrible experience. The worst cars. Dead battery in less than a week. Malfunctioning AC. Expired tyres. Broken seat belt. Already started the booking with a car different from the one I booked with a promise to replace it within 48 hours which never happened. I tested positive for COVID after only one week of my booking and respectfully requested that I return the car and they refund me the remainder as I will stay in quarantine for 14 days and they refused saying we will not refund any bookings. This is a fraud business in collaboration with the company they use “Selfdrive.ae”….Steer clear from any of those two companies as they are the worst I’ve seen in my life and their cars or service are not worth half the money they are charging.
