New Year’s Eve 2023

New Year’s Eve at the Roxy on the Beach JBR was great. Staff are so hospitable and friendly. I cannot fault their impeccable service. The food was delicious in the Premier lounge and cinema. Amazing canapés and mocktails. Compliments to the chef and well done to the staff at the Roxy JBR.

Roxy Cinema Dubai Hills Review

Update: on April 21st, I received a call from a management team member at Dubai Hills Roxy Cinema apologising for the experience we encountered and that she would “make it up to me” in the next time I planned to visit. As it happened, I had already booked tickets a few days ago (before attending John Wick 4) for my nephews first cinema experience. She said to call her on the same number when we arrived to the movie theater (Saturday 22nd April) and she would take care of things and assist and “make it up to us”. I arrived to the cinema and gave her a call twice and she did not respond. She had all the details of our tickets. I checked with the F & B counter for a supervisor and asked about her and they said she was not present and they had no idea of the situation or her discussion with me. I had to explain to the Supervisor (who was very understanding and helpful) the issue and the previous complaint and he did HIS best to make it up to me. But neither him or I should have been put in that situation. I find this to be another lackluster customer service experience at the Roxy theaters and shows a genuine lack of concern for their customers and poor management training. I gave this lady the whole day yesterday and today morning to at the least call and apologize for not delivering on her promise and for not picking up the call. She simply has not. Hence why this update is necessary. I don’t expect anything in return and this is the LAST time I head to ANY Roxy Cinema again. Terrible pop corn and treatment. Only VOX will do for me from now on.

Dear Roxy Cinema management,

You need to take notice to this review and rectify the problems quickly. This was one of the most unprofessional and frustrating cinema experiences I have had in 16 years of living in Dubai.

My friends and I were very excited to watch John Wick in what is hyped by your management and PR agency as one of the most comfortable experiences in the region. We booked 4 days ago in anticipation of getting the best seats in the house at Xtreme Dubai Hills. We booked tickets in row C 22 to 26.

We arrived to the cinema and made our way to the Xtreme theater and we were surprised that no one was there on the entrance to verify tickets or to welcome us and usher us to our seats. We arrived to our seats and people were seated in two of our seats and confusion arose about which seats were ours and which were theirs. The seats numbering system is absolutely ridiculous. We nearly got into an argument with the other party while we were also looking for an usher to intervene. After we thought we resolved the situation we came to sit down on our five seats, but then noticed how FILTHY the seats were and the cup holders too. This was disgusting and unhygienic to say the least. My friends decided to take out tissues and dettol to clean their individual seats. When they started to do so a couple arrived to say that we were taking their seats. I had enough of this and decided to go down and find a manager or supervisor to take action. I looked around and could not find anyone on the cinema door. I asked a security guard where I can find someone to take action and I specifically asked for the manager or supervisor. She finally called for someone after a deliberation with her and I went to the toilet to bring a couple of wet plies of tissues paper to clean my own seats. The security guard said she would take care of the seating mishap and also requested a cleaner to come in, but by the time I arrived to my seat, the seating situation was resolved by my friends and they had cleaned my dirty chair.

This is by no means acceptable and is very unreasonable to go through this sort of customer experience. I urge you to do better at Dubai Hills Mall. Additionally, please stop the false website advertising about the tobasco popcorn. It is not available.
