Worst hotel experience so fat – Never book here again!

I usually don’t write reviews but I had to because the hotel is not answering, emails, messages, phone calls. This was definitely the worst experience we’ve had during our 100+ hotel visits in the past 3 years. Please save your money and DO NOT stay at the Paramount Hotel at all costs. Staff is terrible, incompetent, and lying straight to our faces. The hotel is not processing the refund, they claimed that would (not even after almost 1 month).

So here’s the full story:

I booked their Valentine’s Special package through their website for the price of around ~960 AED for the 14th February 2022. The information button next to the price specifically said that the price DOES include all taxes. So I went ahead and booked it for ~960 AED. (Other offers on their website specifically said that they are not including the tax, so this Valentine’s offer seemed to be a nice deal for the price, including taxes.)

When we visited the hotel on the 14th of Feb, I was shocked to hear from the receptionist that we need to pay 1200 AED (instead of ~960 AED). He claimed that the offer does not include the taxes. I then showed him the website where it specifically says the other way around. The receptionist then made many calls for about 10 minutes, then got back to me saying: what they had on the website is wrong and they are sorry for the inconvenience. Because I placed the booking on their website for around ~960 AED, I insisted to pay the ~960 AED instead of the 1200 AED. However, they kept saying that it was not possible.

The receptionist then said that they are offering a complimentary bottle of champagne and some other complementary treats in the evening if we decide to stay for 1200 AED. So we went ahead and paid the 1200 AED. The receptionist said that the champagne should already be in our room. Obviously, when we entered our room, there was no champagne or anything promised. So I called room service asking about it. They kindly said that they were checking it and get back to me. We waited 30 minutes and nothing. Then I went down to reception and asked – another staff member – about the extras and he said that he’ll check on it and send everything straight to our room in 5 minutes. 30 minutes passed and we still got nothing. I then called room service again to check it for me. They said that they never offer complimentary champagne to their guests and I was misinformed.

So we both went down to reception with my partner to talk to the same receptionist who checked us in. We shared our complaints about not receiving anything he promised. He made a few calls and then returned back saying that “he’s very sorry but they cannot offer complimentary champagne or anything”. So it turned out that he was lying to us and misleading us so we book the room. This was the point when I told him, I wanted to speak to his manager. So he called the manager who again, couldn’t offer any alternative. Therefore I asked them that we request an immediate full refund and we’re leaving the hotel right now. The manager agreed to issue a refund. She told me that it’s going to take a few days until the money appears on my account. She even gave me a Tax Invoice about the refund which I still have.

It’s been almost a month now and I still didn’t get my money back. 0 AED. I have sent 5+ emails to all their email addresses in the past 7 days: no reply. I have left several messages on their Facebook page: no reply. I have called them, they forwarded me to their reception, but again: no one picked up the phone at the reception even after waiting on the line for 10+ minutes.

I demand you to pay back the 1200 AED immediately. In case I do not receive a full refund within the next 7 working days, I will have to escalate this case to the local police and take legal action against the company (Proteus Hotel LLC)

To everyone who’s considering booking at the Paramount: please do not! There are much better options in Dubai. Save your money, a headache, and a horrible experience at Paramount Hotel Dubai.
