Tried to Overcharge – RIPOFF

That sounds like a 1-star review, and I’d keep it factual and chronological because that makes it much harder for them to dispute. The strongest point is that they had the photos and knew the situation several days beforehand, but only tried to impose the extra AED 500 at the last minute.

⭐ 1/5 – Very poor experience

I booked FAM Packers & Movers through Justlife for a move based on a one-bedroom apartment.

Several days before the move, FAM contacted me and asked for photos of the items to be moved. I sent them the photos, which clearly showed exactly what furniture was involved. In fact, there was already less furniture than you would normally expect from a one-bedroom apartment because I had moved a number of items myself.

They questioned why the apartment had two bedrooms. I explained that although the property is technically a two-bedroom apartment, the second bedroom contains no furniture whatsoever, so the amount of furniture being moved was effectively from one bedroom only. They had this information and the photos from Saturday.

Despite this, they waited until the evening before the move to tell me that I would have to pay an additional AED 500 for a two-bedroom move. I refused because there simply wasn’t two bedrooms’ worth of furniture to move. They then told me they would not carry out the service unless I paid the additional AED 500.

This left me having to cancel the booking and find another moving company at the last minute.

The most ridiculous part is that FAM wanted AED 1,100 plus another AED 500 – AED 1,600 in total. The replacement company moved everything for AED 850, with no issue whatsoever.

Trying to impose an additional AED 500 the evening before a booked move, despite having been given photographs and a full explanation several days earlier, was completely unacceptable.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend FAM Packers & Movers.
