Dear Clarins Management,
I am writing to share my feedback regarding a recent facial treatment I received at your Dubai Mall spa. I typically opt for treatments at 5-star hotels, but my friends highly recommended Clarins products, and I wanted to experience them firsthand before making a purchase, as I change my skincare products every 6-12 months.
I was fortunate to secure an appointment, and upon arrival, I met Kimi, who I later realized was my facialist. During the consultation, I requested hydration and glowing skin. Kimi immediately suggested the “Youth Experts” treatment, which she said would address my hydration needs. However, she did not inquire about any allergies or my skin’s sensitivity, which is crucial as I have very sensitive skin with broken capillaries.
During the peeling step, I experienced a burning sensation. When I asked Kimi about the ingredients, she initially said she forgot. I urged her to check, given my discomfort. She insisted on applying the product, which she said was for cooling down my skin, before leaving the room to confirm. Upon her return, she informed me that the product contained glycolic acid and salicylic acid. I immediately asked her to remove it as I was very uncomfortable.
Additionally, I noticed Kimi was not wearing a mask. I requested that she wear one for both our protection and because I could feel her breath on my face. She stated she couldn’t breathe with a mask on.
I tried to remain patient, hoping the treatment would improve during the massage portion. However, I was disappointed to learn that the facial did not include a face massage or extraction, which was not communicated to me beforehand. The treatment felt like something I could do at home, consisting mostly of product application and tapping.
After the treatment, my face felt hot and itchy. Thankfully, I encountered Rebecca, who was incredibly helpful. She understood my concerns, cleansed my face, and applied a calming mask and cream, which brought significant relief from the heat and itchiness on my face and neck. Rebecca truly provided excellent assistance.
While I appreciate the quality of your products, I believe there is a significant need for improved product knowledge and proper consultation training for your staff. Guests should be fully informed about the sequence and details of their chosen treatment, including what is and isn’t included, to manage expectations and ensure a comfortable experience..
